Do you ever daydream about spending your days on a tropical island, heading down to the beach whenever the mood takes you and hanging out on terraces and at pool parties with your friends all night long, dancing the night away with a cocktail in hand and only the stars above your head… well, come to work in Ibiza for the summer, and you can have all that lifestyle and more!

If you’ve always wanted to do some travelling, explore the world and perhaps work abroad, then finding a summer job to work in Ibiza this year could be the perfect adventure you’ve been looking for. Give yourself the chance to make some wonderful memories, meet tons of new friends for life and enjoy a summer that you’ll remember forever – and unless you don’t like getting a great tan, a low cost of living and plenty of job opportunities, there really is no down side!

Come with us as we show you exactly what Ibiza in the summer is for temporary workers, what you need to do to prepare and we’ll throw in a few great tips on how to find the best summer jobs in Ibiza this year. Ready for an adventure?

Summer jobs in Ibiza – what’s the catch?

Lots of people decide to spend a summer working on the White Isle for many different reasons. Perhaps you’re a student with the summer months stretching out before you with no real plans at home? Perhaps you’re bored of your day job stuck in an airless office and want a bit of adventure in your life? Or, maybe you just want to try something new and learn a little Spanish? Whatever the reason, summer jobs abroad and particularly ones in Ibiza are always very popular in the summer months.

Speak to anyone who has decided to work abroad before and they’ll usually launch into an exciting and inspiring speech about how it was the best time of their life, how they’d give anything to go back and how they wish it had lasted longer – mostly because summer jobs abroad give you the freedom and fun that regular jobs simply can’t. Sure, people can get a little home sick from time to time, and it’s a good idea to take a Spanish phrase book with you if you want to get to know the locals a bit more, but aside from that, there really is no downside!

Jobs in Ibiza – what are my options if I want to work abroad

If you’re from a country within the European Union then there’s nothing to stop you hopping on a cheap flight to Ibiza and starting work that very same day. You’ll just need to make sure you register for an N.I.E. number before you come. That’s roughly translated as an ID number for foreigners, which simply means that you’ll have your very own all-purpose identification and tax number for when you’re here. You can find lots of information about how to get one of these online, before you head down to Ibiza in the summer.

If you’re from further afield and not part of the European Union, you’ll still need one of those numbers, but you’ll also need to make sure that you have the correct visa to live and work abroad here, and make sure to check the time limit. Again, there are hundreds of really good and informative websites and blogs where you can get help with this. But aside from that, you’re good to go!

What kind of jobs in Ibiza will I find?

Ibiza in the summer is one of the European hot spots for tourism and fun in the sun, with families, students, friends and everyone else all heading here for a great time! Fortunately, that means there are lots of temporary summer jobs in Ibiza available for the high season.

The peak season for tourism, when you’ll find more and more jobs around, generally starts in late May and goes on until mid to late September. Of course, the summer months of June, July and August are when the island is particularly busy, so your chances of finding summer jobs in Ibiza is best at those times.

You’ll find everything from serving drinks in bars to working on hotel receptions, cleaning rooms to cleaning pools. If you have the right skills, you could work in kids’ clubs or as a lifeguard, or perhaps even in watersports or adventure activities. If you want to keep things simple, there are always jobs in kitchens and as waiting staff in restaurants, or even work in the super clubs, whether that’s helping to set up the sound equipment or handing out flyers and promoting the clubs in various resorts.

Take a look at some of the beautiful Ibiza resorts online like Santa Eularia or Platja es Figueral for ideas of where they might need summer workers, which is a great way to discover jobs in Ibiza. There are also lots of great websites that help you along, like Summer Job Takeover which is full of helpful hints.

The best time to start your search is definitely early in the summer season, usually in the month of May and early June, when places start to get busier and resorts realise they need people to come and work in Ibiza. If you’re a bit more spontaneous and adventurous, then some people even head to Ibiza and simply ask around in resorts and towns for information about jobs after they’ve arrived. If you’re confident and want to keep things flexible, then that’s a great way to start your time here and have a say in exactly where you want to work. It can be a great option for many.

Work in Ibiza centres around what the island does best – tourism and having a great time, so there are always jobs available for hard workers who have the right kind of Ibiza-attitude, always smiling and always happy!

In our opinion, Ibiza is one of the best places on earth to visit, live and work, so whatever you find yourself doing - as long as you work hard -you’ll find that the island and its people will welcome you with open arms. Ibiza in the summer is a very special place, so if you want to become part of the family and take home a suitcase full of memories that will last for eternity, then summer jobs in Ibiza could be exactly what you’re looking for.
