Unforgettable”, “immeasurably beautiful” and “welcoming” are words our guests have used to describe the marinas in Ibiza. In addition to fulfilling their function as a place for boats to spend the night, theports of Ibiza have become a real tourist attraction.

The restaurants in the port of Ibiza are some of the best on the island, with the fresh catch of the day and local produce on the menu. This is part of why some of the most luxurious yachts and ships that sail the planet dock at the marinas in Ibiza. Shall we dive into what ports look like here?

The history of marinas in Ibiza

The concept of a port has changed a lot over the centuries and, perhaps, more so in Ibiza. From the ancient port activity to the recreational purposes of today, the summers that have passed date back to the Carthaginian, who conquered the island, turning the port of Ibiza into an important naval base. Later, the Romans maintained the port with the same purpose for their immense commercial activity.

There is evidence that, in the 17th century, purpose-built buildings already existed at the dock, especially in the Arrabal area. However, the current facilities of the port of Ibiza date back to the beginning of the 20th century, when the breakwater that protects the port’s southern side was built.
More recently, in 1980, the port of Ibiza was renovated with modern infrastructure that is used today and opened to more commercial activity beyond boat maintenance services. Now, the marina of Ibiza is a veritable tourist attraction.

Six marinas in Ibiza that you cannot miss

Luxury and exclusivity – the marinas of Ibiza are the epitome of class but with different characters to each, so do try to visit as many as your time allows. If you can, visit them all.
Even if you don’t have a boat, we recommend strolling to some of the marinas in Ibiza to see the splendor of shining helms against a sparkling ocean. Here are all the great marinas in Ibiza:

1. The Port of Ibiza

The port of Ibiza is the main location on the island to receive visitors by boat and is located in the UNESCO treasure, Dalt Vila. The capital city’s port is a permanent home to a large number of luxury yachts, as well as first-class restaurants, and exclusive shops.
It is an ideal place to walk and enjoy the nightlife in the surrounding area. Come and see the incomparable beauty of scores of white hulls, bobbing on the gentle waves.

2. Marina Botafoch Sports Port

The Botafoch marina is located right next to the port of Ibiza. It’s known for its modern atmosphere and high concentration of luxury yachts. This spot also has excellent eateries stocked with fresh fish as would be expected, and some of the best chefson the island.

3. Ibiza Magna Marina

The former Ibiza Magna, Marina Port Ibiza since 2020, is located in the center of the city of Ibiza and is known for its prime location and exclusive atmosphere. It is an ideal place to enjoy urban life and explore the old part of the city.

4. Ibiza Marina

Another option in Ibiza city is the main Ibiza Marina. It offers high-quality services and is a meeting point for luxury boat sailors.
This port of Ibiza has special moorings that can accommodate yachts and boats of various sizes, including megayachts that – for non-enthusiasts – can be up to 60 meters in length.

5. Santa Eulalia Marina

This marina is located in the charming, traditional town of Santa Eulalia. This port of Ibiza is known for its relaxed and family atmosphere. It offers a wide range of nautical services, as well as restaurants and shops.
The beautiful beaches of Santa Eulalia are a short walk from the marina, so you can have a relaxing day on the sand as soon as you dock. Plus, many cultural and sporting events are organized throughout the year, so you’ll have your pick of unusual activities, both water and land-based.

6. San Antonio Marina

On the west coast of the island, you'll find the sports marina of San Antonio. It is well-equipped, such that it attracts both expert sailors and tourism boats. It is a popular place to enjoy beautiful sunsets in Ibiza and offers lively nightlife and clubs in high season in the surrounding area.

If the boats and marinas in Ibiza impressed you, you’re in for a treat with neighbouring Formentera. While the flora and fauna are similar to the Ibiza island, you’ll find the marinas on Ibiza’s little sister are more exclusive and less transited.
In Formentera, there are two marinas: the Marina de Formentera and Formentera Mar, and both are located in the town of La Savina. Moorings are scarce, so reserve yours in advance to be sure you can dock in the charming port of Formentera.

Just like the marinas in Ibiza, on Formentera you will find all kinds of services near the port to cater to new arrivals: restaurants, bars, supermarkets, repair services and nautical shops. You will want for nothing!
In our – only slightly biased – opinion, the marinas in Ibiza are unique in that they combine luxury with fun, and leisure with natural beauty.

Each port has its own charm, so we’d be happy to point you to whichever mooring spot best suits your needs. Simply ask your Invisa teamabout the marinas of Ibiza and we’ll gladly direct you!
