September 05 2024

The best places in Ibiza to go with kids won’t make you feel like you’re holding back and having a tame holiday, nor will you feel like you’re gearing the entire jaunt around them. Plenty of places to visit with kids in Ibiza are specifically designed to cater to them and you—no standing in the sun while they frolic or burnt coffee to sip on as they have the time of their lives. Visit these spots, and you’ll enjoy the island with everything it has to offer the whole family.

Although many associate Ibiza with its vibrant nightlife, the island is home to much more than that. Its temperatures and variety of natural areas make it an ideal destination for families, full of options that guarantee fun for everyone. The list of places to visit in Ibiza with kids is extensive, and we’ve curated the best for you!

Before you start planning your days out, though, book into a family-friendly hotel in Ibiza to make your stay on the island memorable, safe, and comfortable. These hotels are designed to offer entertainment for all ages, so your days in Ibiza can be truly special.

Let’s dive into the outdoor activities, cultural, educational, and water activities you can do as a family, starting with our favourite family-friendly beaches.

6 family-friendly beaches in Ibiza

Ibiza boasts countless beaches perfect for family enjoyment. These spots are known for their natural beauty, it’s true. They also provide all the amenities necessary for an unforgettable day at the beach. Here are our top beach choices and perfect places in Ibiza to go with kids:

Cala Llonga

Here, at one of the favourite beaches for kids in Ibiza, you’ll find a long stretch of fine sand and shallow waters—it’s the ideal environment for the little ones to play safely.

Cala Vadella

This calm beach, with crystal-clear waters surrounded by cliffs, is the perfect refuge for families seeking a safe and relaxed environment for their children.

Es Canar

Spacious and well-equipped, Es Canar is a soft sandy beach with shallow waters, ideal for families looking to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing day by the sea.

Playa d’en Bossa

Although mostly known for its famous clubs, Playa d’en Bossa also offers a quieter, family-friendly area. The wide stretch of fine sand and shallow waters make it another excellent option for families with kids.

Portinatx

Located in an area of small coves, Portinatx is the one we’d choose for families seeking tranquillity. Its calm, crystal-clear waters are safe for little ones, just deep enough to start practising snorkelling.

Cala Tarida

Another ideal beach for families, with a wide sandy area and shallow waters in stunning shades of blue, kids can play and swim with complete peace of mind at Cala Tarida.

5 outdoor activity areas

Of course there’s more here than “just beaches”! You’ll also find a great variety of water parks in Ibiza and numerous outdoor activities perfect for family fun. Here are our top 5:

Acrobosc

In the Santa Eulalia area, this park offers a variety of adventure circuits among trees, with different difficulty levels to suit all ages and abilities. Its circuits include hanging bridges, zip lines, nets, ropes, and other balance and agility challenges. The difficulty levels are green (for the youngest and beginners), blue (for older children and adults seeking more challenge), and red (for teenagers and fit adults). We told you we’re giving you all the options that won’t bore the older kids or parents either!

Ibiza Horse Valley

A fantastic family plan in Ibiza—this organisation is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting mistreated or abandoned horses on the island. In addition to their rescue work, they offer unique horseback riding experiences in a spectacular natural setting, allowing visitors to connect with the animals and nature in a special way. Highly recommended!

Ibiza Bowling Center

This one is located in San Antonio, and any bowling centre offers a fun and engaging experience for families. We suggest this one as an ideal spot to take a break from the sun and enjoy some indoor fun because it has lanes suitable for both kids and adults and is close to many other amenities.

Karting San Antonio

For a more thrilling outdoor activity, head to Karting San Antonio. The track is designed for all ages, offering go-karting experiences tol excite young children and older “kids” alike!

4 cultural and educational activities

Cultural and educational activities are another highlight of Ibiza, ideal for families looking for more than just sun and beach. The island offers a wide variety of options that combine learning and entertainment.

Ethnography Museum

The Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza is housed in a beautiful 300-year-old traditional farmhouse, Can Ros, in Puig de Missa of Santa Eulalia. Here, you can learn about the most significant aspects of life on the island, from the charm of this town, its people, culture, and traditions to how they’ve all shaped the island’s history. The museum combines a permanent exhibition of farming and fishing tools, clothing, jewellery, household objects, crafts, carts, popular musical instruments, and more with temporary exhibits.

Dalt Vila

Dalt Vila is one of Ibiza’s treasures—unmissable. The walled city can be explored in two directions: by following the layout of its 16th-century bastions and walls or by getting lost in the charming alleys and inner squares. A wander through Dalt Vila is a must-do family plan, where history and architecture combine to offer a fascinating experience.

Can Marçà cave

Located in the north of Ibiza, the Can Marçà cave is one of the most impressive places in Ibiza to go with kids, with over 100,000 years of history, perched on a cliff above the Port de Sant Miquel. Besides its spectacular natural beauty, the cave has a legendary past, as it was used by smugglers to hide their goods. You can still see the marks they used to indicate the entrance and exit. Since the 1980s, this cave has become a popular tourist destination in Ibiza for all ages.

Puig des Molins Necropolis and Museum

For a unique cultural experience, visit the Puig des Molins Necropolis and Museum. This ancient burial site, dating back to the Phoenician era, offers a fascinating glimpse into Ibiza’s past, and a little bit of morbid history if you’re here for it—as most kids are! The museum displays artefacts discovered on the site and provides educational insights into the island's ancient civilizations, including the history of other places in Ibiza to go with kids like the city centre, the Pirate Towers and the Phoenician Village.

3 boat-related water activities

You can’t come to this island without a dip in the sea, and there’s no better way to enjoy it than by embarking on one of the many boat trips in Ibiza. This is a perfect plan for the whole family, where both adults and kids can have a great time.

When it comes to which mooring to start from, the ideal places in Ibiza to go with kids includes Formentera, the neighbouring island, so we recommend catching a boat heading that way. It’s very close and offers spectacular landscapes worth exploring as a family.

Sunset cruises

An unforgettable experience for the entire family is taking a sunset cruise around the island. These cruises offer breathtaking views of the sunset over the Mediterranean, with some boats providing music and light refreshments to enhance the experience.

Renting kayaks or paddle boards

For a more active adventure, you can rent kayaks or paddle boards to explore Ibiza's crystal-clear waters in a fun and exciting way. Get this fun activity and some exercise done, so the kids sleep soundly that night!

Glass-bottom boat tours

A fantastic option for families with young children is a glass-bottom boat tour. These boats allow you to see the underwater world without getting wet, providing a fascinating look at the marine life and underwater landscapes of Ibiza, in total safety.

Ibiza is an exceptional vacation destination, where every family member can find something they love. Nothing’s stopping you—we’re waiting with open arms for you to experience an unforgettable holiday on the island!
