Ocean-side paradise, coastal heaven, the sandy shores of Ibiza are home to the best blue flag beaches in the world. Moreover, four of our coastal treasures were awarded the prestigious Blue Flag by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 2023, and with good reason!

Cala Sant Vicent, Cala Llenya, Es Canar and Es Figueral are the proud holders of Blue Flags, the hallmark of quality and sustainability. We are proud that these natural jewels met all the requirements that measure environmentally-friendly aspects of coastal areas and promote responsible tourism.

Every year, the FEE reviews and approves the requirements that a beach must meet to obtain a coveted Blue Flag, and every year, several Ibiza beaches surpass this standard! The award considers water quality, safety, accessibility, and services available to visitors. In addition, measures must be taken to raise awareness among visitors of the importance of protecting the environment.

If all these characteristics are met, a beach is awarded a Blue Flag by the FEE, as are the best beaches in Ibiza – today recognised as authentic natural treasures. Let’s explore the unique characteristics of all four beautiful spots.

Cala San Vicent

Cala Sant Vicent is the first of the four blue flag beaches in Ibiza this year. It is located to the north of the island, four miles from Sant Joan de Labritja. The beach itself is semicircular in shape, and the bay is flanked by rocky cliffs and lush green hills.

On this cove, the sand is soft and golden, inviting you to relax and enjoy the sun. The calm waters of Cala San Vicent are shallow and ideal for paddling, making it a family-friendly beach.

In addition to sunbathing and swimming, Cala San Vicent is home to plenty of experts in water sports who rent equipment for activities such as paddleboarding and snorkelling. Exploring the underwater world of this Blue Flag bay is unforgettable – the clear waters are home to vibrant marine life and colourful coral reefs.

You can start your day on San Vicent, one of the most accessible Blue Flag beaches Ibiza has to offer, but if you like getting off the beaten track, do explore the trails and paths in the area that lead to viewpoints and more hidden coves. This spot is ideal for immersing yourself in its natural beauty.

Nearby, you will also find the charming town Sant Joan de Labritja, which is famous for whitewashed houses and a captivating atmosphere. Here, there is a cave called Can Marçà too that we always recommend for its fascinating geological formations. You can book a guided tour online or speak to the Invisa team for recommendations.

Cala Llenya

Another of the best beaches in Ibiza is Cala Llenya. Sat on the east coast of the island, about 5 miles from Santa Eulalia, Cala Llenya is also known for its natural beauty, but enjoys a more peaceful atmosphere, making it a popular destination for those looking to lay back and relax.

Here, a wide bay of fine white sand, bordered by hills covered with pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation, leads down to crystalline waters. The landscape is picture perfect – idyllic such that there is no wonder this was named one of the Blue Flag beaches in Ibiza. The beach is spacious, so it’s easy to find a place to relax and enjoy the sun any time of year.

Again, if you are keen to explore beyond the beach, Cala Llenya is located in an area surrounded by forest and coastal walks. Near the beach, several well-marked paths and trails wind around the coast and criss-cross over the surrounding landscapes. It is truly a delight to behold.

Es Canar

Not far, also on the eastern side of the island is Es Canar beach, one of the most attractive and well-known beaches in Ibiza. This stretch of stunningly clean sand is located approximately two miles north of the city of Santa Eulalia.

Another Ibizan Blue Flag beach of 2023, Es Canar is known for having a fun and lively atmosphere. It also has the added value that it is a stunning place from which to admire the spectacular sunrises that start the day in Ibiza.

A family-friendly as well as environmentally-friendly beach, this spot on the coast is no doubt ideal for spending the day in the sun and swimming, or trying out a new water sport.

Es Canar is well located, close to other tourist attractions. You can visit the nearby town of Santa Eulalia, which has a beautiful promenade, shops and restaurants. You can also go on boat trips to explore the nearby coves and beaches, or easily visit the island of Formentera, which is only a short ferry ride away.

Es Figueral

Six miles north of Santa Eulalia, you’ll find the beach of Es Figueral, a calm beach to swim at with shallow waters, absolutely ideal for snorkelling.

Es Figueral is a place of tranquillity in low season and rarely crowded even in high season, away from the bustle of Ibiza’s best beaches. Popular with visitors from overseas, it retains a relaxed, family atmosphere and you will find other children here too, enjoying the sun and calm waves. Part of the reason why Es Figueral is a Blue Flag beach, safety is guaranteed so you can simply focus on fun activities in the sand and sea.

In addition, there are two magnificent options for family accommodation right on this Blue Flag beach: first of all the Invisa Hotel Cala Verde, which is part of the Invisa Figueral Resort, has wonderful facilities. It is a four-star hotel and extremely well-equipped for adults who want to have all the luxuries and amenities available to them on site.

Right next door is the Invisa Hotel Cala Blanca, a 3-star family beach hotel, especially recommended for those travelling with children to Ibiza who want to enjoy a quiet, hassle-free vacation in the Mediterranean.

Ibiza’s best beaches await you. The four blue flags will fly high in 2023 at these spectacular points on the island. Intrigued? Come and discover the paradise that can be found on Ibiza’s Blue Flag beaches!
