The most-loved water activities Ibiza has to offer
Water sports in Ibiza are a great tourist asset and they will surely make you enjoy it in a big way. The sea is an indisputable argument for placing the island as a paradise in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Discover the most popular sports that can be practised in Ibiza!
Surfing and paddle surfing
The beaches here are perfect for learning and practising surfing and paddle surfing. You can rent a board or any equipment you need and head out to enjoy the waves at beaches like the almost virgin cove of Cala Nova, Aguas Blancas or Cala Martina. There are also surf schools that offer classes for beginners or coaching tailored to your level for any and all water activities you might like to do in Ibiza.
Windsurfing
As well as the beautiful beaches, Ibiza is known for its calm wind inland and consistent breeze along the coast, the right speed for windsurfing. The beaches of Es Canar, Playa d'en Bossa and Cala Martina are especially popular among avid windsurfers, but again, just ask your Invisa staff for more recommendations.
Kitesurfing
An outstanding activity that anyone who’s not faint of heart and a fan of active tourism must do is kitesurfing in Ibiza. The beaches of Es Cavallet and Playa d'en Bossa are known to be excellent spots to enjoy kitesurfing.
Diving and snorkelling
When you get here, you’ll see how the crystal clear waters of Ibiza invite you to explore marine life either by diving or snorkelling. There are several diving spots on the island, in fact, and multiple companies offer excursions and courses for all levels of experience. Just choose the day on which you’d like to discover beautiful coral reefs, underwater caves and an immense variety of marine species.
Jet skis
If you love feeling the wind in your hair, splashing at your legs, and a boost of adrenaline, you will have already looked into jet skiing in Ibiza! There are several areas to practise this water sport in Ibiza. One of the most beautiful spots to do so is around the Es Vedra islet, a natural reserve dotted with caves to peek into.
Kayaking and paddleboarding
There are relaxing water activities in Ibiza too, which allow you to enjoy panoramic views and explore the hidden coves and caves of the island at your own pace. You can rent a kayak or a paddle board to row along the coast, taking pictures and discovering unique and peaceful places. This is an outstanding water activity Ibiza is home to for those interested in active tourism but not the most adventurous traveller.
Hiking in Ibiza: Top 5 paths
You don’t need to get your feet wet to appreciate the natural beauty of Ibiza – you can see plenty from dry land. There are complex routes to explore the forests and hills, as well as more approachable paths through rural towns and along the coastline, depending on what you prefer and your walking level.
Going hiking in Ibiza is of course the best way to see plenty of wildlife, as well as to meet other people with the same interest. Convinced? Here are the top 5 paths to hike all over Ibiza.
Sa Talaia
Why not head to the highest point on the island and gaze over the view early on in your stay, it would motivate us! This first trail starts in San José and takes you through pine forests and rocky terrain to the viewpoint at the top of Sa Talaia. The hike is of moderate difficulty and takes around 4 hours for the round trip.
Es Vedrà
This iconic rocky island off the southwest coast of Ibiza is another popular hiking spot. You can follow the coastal route from Cala d'Hort to the Es Vedra viewpoint, where you will enjoy impressive views of the islet. This walk is relatively easy and will last 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace.
Ses Salines
This natural park, located to the south of the island, is known for its impressive landscapes and the rich biodiversity you can find here. Several hiking routes allow you to explore the area, such as the path that leads from Ses Salines beach to the tower of Es Botafoch. This walk should last around 3 hours and can be exposed if it’s windy.
Atlantis
This path takes you along the rocky landscape on the west coast. It is an exciting journey that impresses even those who frequently hike in Ibiza. Atlantis is an abandoned quarry that has also been carved by erosion over the years. The walk starts at the Sa Pedrera car park and does go through some difficult terrain so we consider this a more advanced hiking route. The spectacular views and Instagrammable shots absolutely make the 3-hour hike worthwhile.
Puig des Molins
The last-but-not-least path to hike through Ibiza will take you through the ancient Phoenician cemetery of Puig des Molins. Here, you can explore the tombs and learn more about the ancient culture of Ibiza. It is a pleasant walk through the archaeological site with a unique attraction and the initial hike there is also relatively easy and can take up to 2 hours.
Hot air balloon rides: Ibiza from a bird's eye view
Now we’ve gone through the most outstanding elements of active tourism: Ibiza by sea and Ibiza by land, shall we take to the skies?
From a bird's-eye point of view, you’ll soar over the island in a balloon perhaps reliving the spots you already visited or choosing your next day out. This active tourism activity is an adventurous experience, completely unforgettable, such that several companies offer this service for between €175 and 220 per person.
You’ll be in the balloon for 50 minutes but need to set aside 3 to 4 hours because you’ll be involved all along the way, helping both assemble and disassemble the balloon – isn’t that exciting! The service includes a specialised instructor, breakfast, a glass of Cava and, most importantly, your flight certificate. It’s quite a show!
In short, you can enjoy active tourism in Ibiza on sand, land and sea. Which sounds like your favourite? Choose your preference and enjoy the active tourism Ibiza offers you. The Invisa team is waiting with open arms!
